Thanks to wysteria for her copy of this film!

Cahoots - Keith Carradine

Keith plays womanizing roughneck Matt, who suddenly reappears in the life of old pal Harley (played by David Keith).

Matt and Harley did everything together growing up, including sharing their first sexual experiences. But Harley has become a solidly middle-class architect, married to small-business owner named Rita.

Matt and Cassie (wysteria personal collection)

Wonderful Wendie Malick also stars in this movie as Matt's ex-wife Diane, and mother of his daughter, Cassie.

Even though Matt's been gone about a decade, he and Harley soon get up to their old tricks, much to the despair of their family members, especially Rita, with her loudly-ticking biological clock.

Cahoots - Keith Carradine

One night, after an encounter in which Matt is violated, a secret that Harley has tried to keep buried away in the recesses of his mind resurfaces. As the two old friends carry out an ill-conceived plan to avenge Matt, including tying someone to the proverbial railroad tracks, revelations cause Harley to turn on Matt. Well, without dropping any more broad hints, you can guess that this movie ends in tragedy.

Here is quote from writer wysteria, from one of her posts below:

"...I found this film to be a metaphoric symphony ...
A seductive, painfully sad, lost and lonely death of some sort. I can't really express it well. I thought this would be easy to write... it's not!..."

Cahoots - Keith Carradine

Gentle wiki readers, this was actually a pretty daring role for KC at the
time...let's see, rape, murder AND very
enthusiastic wrestling...not
for the faint-hearted Keith Carradine fan...!

wysteria has provided a more comprehensive summary, located in the threads at the bottom of this page, as well as a copy of the film! She has also icluded the lyrics to "Lonesome Wolf," written and performed by the one and only Keith Carradine. (Thanks, wysteria, your writing really made me want to see this film--dexgal! I was happy I finally got to!)

Cahoots - Keith Carradine

Keith Carradine with the director (and writer!) Dirk Benedict*

Keith Carradine looking really great!

*I know these pages are about Keith Carradine, but DIRK BENEDICT was in a very cool movie with Strother Martin--Dirk gets turned into a snake--saw it when I was a kid and it gave me nightmares for years--and he was Starbuck on the original Battlestar Galactica...yey--AND he was on the A-Team with George Peppard (another sexy 'older' man who has sadly passed away)! Thanks for indulging my trip down (sorta vague) memory lane!"--dexgal

Matt and Harley meet in childhood, Matt is a friendless bully - Harley has a generous heart.
Matt and Harley grow into young adulthood together. They lose their virginity the very same night under the very same car roof with seperate girls of course.
Matt and Harley are best friends "We broke a lot of hymens together"
Matt and Harley are what Matt refers to as "Asshole Buddies"
Matt and Harley choose sepearte professions
Harley goes to college to become an architech and Matt goes into the manly profession of construction.
Each man finds a woman and marries
Matt marries Diane, a rich-bitch catty-type who digs the smell of a sweaty man (she has sexual issues, her father was a lawyer)
Harley marries down-to-earth feisty blond named Rita.
Matt and Diane have a daughter Cassie. Matt's marriage doesn't work out. Matt's life doesn't work out... Matt runs off to Alaska for a decade.
Harley is a nice guy. He's a dul failure but he's a nice guy. His wife is on the ball. Rita has built her own small clothing business but she has a problem.. Her biological clock is ticking so loud that she sets off car alarms while walking down the street. Harley is either unwilling or unable to give her what she needs most. A Child.
Enter Matt into Harley's life.
Matt is no good, Matt will never be any good. He returns back to town after ten years away at "recess" He meets his lovely little nine year old daughter, Cassie on her school grounds after school where she proudly states to her daddy that she has saved every letter he ever sent her "All Both of Them"
Matt and Harley resume their antics as Rita stands helplessly by and watches Harley headed for total destruction.
One night Matt is sexually violeated by an old queen with a foreign accent.
Harley is talked into helping Matt take revenge.
They tie old queen and cohorts to a railroad track one dark night.

dexgal Well, I can't say I really LIKED this movie, BUT.... (page: 1 2) 34 Jun 30 2008, 1:44 PM EDT by Atakama

....I'm extemely happy that I FINALLY got to see it! I do feel that Keith Carradine did an outstanding job with a VERY unsympathetic character. The character of Matt was so flawed, at such an early age, that there was very little material left that could've been redeemed. Unfortunately, Matt and Rita ("Fox", Harley's wife) were really the only two characters that were well-developed. Maybe something happened during the editing phase of making the film, but it seemed like there were huge gaps in the exposition; I would've liked to have just a little bit more about Harley (and his boss at the architectural firm was kind weird...?!) Everything seemed to just be uneven...

One, two, three...and.......

I'll be your soldier..
If ya want me to
I'll draw my sword..
And kill for you
I'll bleed upon your fields of war
And when I'm done..
You'll ask for more

I'll be the storm that floods your heart
And tears your sacred house apart
I'll sow the wheat...
Upon your hills
And fuel the fire that comfort kills

Batten down the hatches
Barr the door
You can't pro-tect your daughters no more!
The Lonesome Wolf is come to town
He's gon-na blow your fences down

I'll rake your fears..
A-cross the coals
And mock the tears..
Of frightened souls
And when your world..
Is on it's knees..
I'll make ya weep....
For lovin' me!

Batten down the hatches !
Barr the door!
You can't pro-tect yur daughters No More!
The Lonesome Wolf has come to town..
he's gonna blow your fences down!

Whoaaaa

Batten Down The Hatches Bar the Door!
You Can't Protect Your Daughters no More!
The Lonesome Wolf Is Come To Town....!
He Gonna Blow Them Fences Down
Oh Yeah !
He Gonna Blow Your Fences Down!
Ahhh It's a great life hahahahaha

Written and performed by Keith Carradine.
