Keith plays Mickey Bolton in this somewhat zany movie directed by Alan Rudolph. Leslie Ann Warren and Genevieve Bujold also star. Mickey might be crazy, or he might be the sanest character in this film about trying to find love...
Keith as Mickey Bolton

(Thanks to registered user wysteria for her contribution to this summary. It's great to have her insight!) This film is an intriguing mixture of eccentric characters. Eve, played deliciously by lovely Lesley Ann Warren is a former streetwalker with a good business sense, but absolutely no sense when it comes to choosing the right man. Zack (Patrich Bauchau) is her current "boyfriend." It's not quite clear what Zack's job is--a gambler? A pimp? Both? Anyway, he's married to Pearl, a ditsy little babe who is learning to speak "French". She is flawlessly and delightfully played by Ray Dawn Chong...enter Mickey. Mickey is played wonderfully by clean-shaven, baby-faced Keith Carradine! Mickey has several problems.
First, he's an escapee from a mental facility. ("He tells lies".) When we first meet Mickey, he's walking up a dark Los Angeles street in a familiar part of town. He sees a familiar name written on a neon sign. He walks in, sits down and orders a beer from Eve, the owner of the place. She obliges. Enter Anne, aka "Nancy Love," the sexually- repressed neurotic who gives advice to the lovelorn on a very popular radio broadcast. She has answered an ad in the classifieds. Anne walks into Eve's Place to meet her roommate, Eve. Eve, a woman who continually calls Nancy for advice on her love life. They don't know each other... but they do. This little human comedy/drama/tragedy continues 'till Mickey has his romantic way with every woman who is in any way connected to Zack! Eve, Pearl, even Anne...This game naturally upsets Zack and he tries to eliminate Mickey by any means possible...

KC seems to have a little more meat on his bones in this movie, but that's a filthy habit he has there! (spoken like a true ex-smoker ARayne!..but, he does look MIGHTY fine and muscular!-dexgal)

Waking up in a stranger's apartment...

Not sure exactly what Mickey is looking for in the water...

When the roommate's away...Mickey goes to visit Eve, but ends up getting acquainted with her roommate instead...

This film is a human circus. It has everything! It's intriguing (you never know what's going to happen next); Its funny, quirky, uniquely mystifying, AND if you love a guy who's attractive, looks good naked, and makes up his mind to marry you the moment he kisses you, well, this is your movie! Oh yeah, I forgot...Mickey..well, he might just be telling the truth (gee wysteria, I think we could stand to meet a guy like that...dexgal).

Well, I am still having trouble getting this from tv to dve to computer, but will hopefully have more screen caps up soon! I have to tell you that I wasn't so crazy about this movie when I first saw it, especially the (IMHO) overpowering soundtrack/score, but it has definitely grown on me! And Keith Carradine looks really REALLY good in this one, not so skinny as usual. He looked healthy and sexy. Okay, just having a moment when I woke up in the middle of the night last night and watched a few minutes of this one--back to reality...!

(Lesley Ann Warren) and they leave the place together in an old (greyhound ?) bus, with an old black lady who tells them "marriage is a sacred thing", and what I remember is Eve saying as a joke to Mickey "you're a lunatic !" and he answers "That's why you chose me"... and I think it's the end... I liked very much this film, too.
