My Father, My SonThis is a featured page

This film, released in 1988, examined the relationship between Admiral Elmo Zumwalt and his son during the Vietnam War era, and the devastating effects of the conflict on their family. It starred KC and Karl Malden. KC plays Admiral Zumwalt's son, he goes to Vietnam then comes back and gets married, has two children and lead a happy life. Suddenly he becomes ill and it's a cancer, caused by the Agent Orange used--as ordered by his father the Admiral-- to weed out the places where Viet Cong were hiding in the vegetation. Of course, the father feels guilty, but the family remains united, and they fight together against the cancer (nice summary, atakama!).

Movie Trivia: Sandra Will Carradine appears as "Ann."

I saw this film some 15 years ago on the TV and I recorded it... unfortunately on a VHS cassette and not a DVD, and I haven't yet the device allowing me to transfer cassette into DVD, but if you cannot get one when I'm able to transfer it at last, I'll be glad to share it with you. This film is what I would call a "family" film, KC plays Admiral Zumwalt's son, he goes to Vietnam then comes back and gets married (I wonder whether his wife in this film is played by Sandra Will, I'm no longer sure, it has to be checked)... They have two children and lead a happy life but suddenly he becomes ill and it's a cancer, caused by the chemical agent used - as ordered by his father the Admiral- to weed the places where vietcong were hiding in the vegetation. Of course the father (Karl Malden) feels guilty, but the family keeps united, and they fight altogether against the cancer. Sorry ARayne and Dexgal, you will see KC totally bald in the last part of this film, but there is a sweet mood in it, not as sad as it could be because of the subject.
